What is Valentines Day?

On Friday the 14th of February, Macarthur Girls high school celebrated Valentines Day, a time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship. The SRC and the student body of Macarthur Girls shared their love and compassion through purchasing ribbons and making generous donations for the Heart Foundation.

What did we do?

Love heart post-it notes were also distributed amongst the school in order for students to write inspirational and positive messages or quotes. These positive messages were collected, collaged on large sheets of paper and hanged around the school for students to view. This activity enabled the spirit of Valentines Day to linger in the student’s hearts and minds. As they read each positive message written from other students, they were able to become positive individuals and truly embrace the meaning of Valentines Day!

Who did we help?

The Heart Foundation is an organisation that saves lives and improves health through funding world-class cardiovascular research, creating guidelines for health professionals and by informing the public and assisting people with cardiovascular disease. As a charity, the Heart Foundation relies on donations and gifts to continue its lifesaving research and health education work.

What did we achieve?

As a school we raised an amazing $493.40 enabling the Heart Foundation to help those with heart diseases and provide them with an enhanced quality of life. Sometimes the small things that you do can mean the world to someone else and maybe even change their life.

“Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.” ― Brian Tracy
