Valentine's Day

Ah, Valentine’s Day. First thing that comes to mind? Chocolate. Lots of it. Preferably given to me by a fictional character that I constantly day dream about. At Macarthur Girls High School Valentine’s Day wasn’t celebrated like this exactly but it was still amazing nonetheless!

The wonderful girls from SRC (no bias whatsoever) came up with an amazing idea to create a whole-school heart montage full of sticky notes with positive messages.

So we all dressed up in our cupid outfits, put a red bow in our hair and set off to spread the joy and love. By the end of lunch I couldn’t see a spot on the paper that wasn’t covered in sticky notes. All of the messages were beautiful and really showed how much a little positivity can do in someone’s life. It brought the whole school together and through this activity girls hopefully learnt that being positive towards others and yourself is a very important thing.

This activity really brought out the PRIDE values of our school as the students had to write down positive messages about someone in their lives. It allowed them to see admirable qualities in others and to really treasure the positive relationships they have in their lives.

We collected money at assembly and decided to donate it to the Heart Foundation as it was linked to theme of Valentine’s Day and the foundation itself saves lives and funds research for cardiovascular diseases. Total amount of money raised was: $493.40

All in all, it was a very successful day and it was so amazing watching so many girls write down positive messages. It really brought a smile to everybody’s faces and reminded them how a little bit of positivity and love can go a long way.
