SRC Junior Cluster
This year saw the first annual Junior Cluster held by the junior members of the SRC. The whole event was incredibly successful and it was a night filled with learning and excitement. On the 16th of September, our Junior Cluster gathered a variety of leaders from different schools and participate in different games and discussions that revolved around the subject of leadership. The theme of the event was ‘Harry Potter’ and this gave everyone a chance to walk around the decorated hall as they met new people.
We kicked off the night with a round of ‘Speedership’, a game designed to both be an icebreaker and it also gave a chance to those participating to learn more about the other participants and their schools. It also allowed the students to discuss with each other the different things that junior members of the SRC can do to contribute more to their school, their SRC and the wider community. After this successful game, we led the group to the Rose Garden where we played ‘Who has Dumbledore’s Sword?’ This game was definitely the most fun to play and it really gave everyone the chance to feel comfortable around each other and it made an easier transition into the next part of our night.
The next part of our night was an activity dedicated entirely to leadership. We took the group from the Rose Garden to the Positivitree- which we had designated as the ‘Whomping Willow’ for the night- where along with positive messages, there were quotes and questions to do with leadership. After a few minutes of admiring the tree, we all got into a circle where we discussed these quotes and questions. It was absolutely amazing learning about other's beliefs and values regarding leadership and the different initiatives their schools had undertaken to uphold these values and beliefs.
After this leadership discussion, it was finally time to mingle and enjoy the different games our SRC had created. It was here that we showed these different leaders our proudest initiatives and events so far during the year. We felt so happy and proud to see everyone learning so much and having so much fun. We were also so grateful for the help from the teachers and other students who decided to help out. Without their help this event would never have taken place.
It was such an amazing and successful event and the SRC of Macarthur Girls High School feel so gratified knowing that the other junior leaders learnt something from this event and were able to share their proudest moments from their schools. Take a look at our gallery for photos of the event.
